Innovation, Teamwork, Responsibility
BlackRock Metals has selected only the best-in-class technologies to construct our mine and metallurgical facilities.

High-grade vanadium-titanium-magnetite (VTM) concentrate will be transformed into quality products with the lowest carbon footprint in the world.

Our Saguenay facility is designed to re-capture certain emissions, utilizes clean natural gas and green hydro-electricity, and creates almost no solid waste.

We go beyond compliance with the strictest environmental standards
Environmental responsibility is at the forefront of everything we do. BlackRock Metals has worked with regulatory bodies, local communities, and First Nations peoples to ensure operations exceed regulatory requirements. Some of our achievements thus far:
BRM was awarded a Global Certificate of Authorization, the main environmental permit for the construction and operation of the mine and mill following a public review by the Environmental and Social Impact Review Committee (COMEX: A committee composed of members appointed by the government of Quebec and of the Cree Nation).

BRM received a positive Environmental Assessment decision from the Government of Canada for the mine and mill.

BRM received a Global Decree from the Government of Quebec following public review of the metallurgical plant project by the Bureau des audiences publiques sur l’environnement du Quebec (BAPE) authorizing the construction and operation of the metallurgical plant.

BRM has invested millions of dollars and years of time in our pursuit of environmental studies and community consultations regarding the BlackRock Project.
Honouring the Land
The BlackRock Metals project is located on First Nation traditional territories, and we are dedicated to sustainable project development and ensuring minimal impact on the environment.
We intend to achieve this in the following ways:
Work closely with host communities to understand the local social and natural environments

Monitor construction operations and the closure of the project to ensure that we exceed environmental standards

Engage with First Nations communities and families to enable those who continue the traditional way of life

Seek out and consider First Nation experience and knowhow when addressing environmental and social impacts

Implement compensation plans for wetlands, fish habitat, and other wildlife habitats

Create committees together with host communities to reduce and eliminate environmental and social impacts
BlackRock Metals believes that the key factors to success are frequent, open and transparent communications, building trusting relationships, working towards a common goal and making problem-solving a collaborative effort.
Our Process
Our goal is to become a near-zero CO2 emission operation that produces low carbon, high purity metals and materials. Here’s how we will do it.
